(Film major) Found my Ten Schools: What do you guys think?

After spending many months of my junior year stressing on this site, I had to put it away and focus on what my choices were for a bit, but now I’m back, and I have 10 schools that I’m applying to or have already applied to. They are (in order of preference):

  1. UCLA
  2. USC
  3. Stanford (Applied, it wouldn't break my heart to get denied, because let's face it, that's happening)
  4. Loyola Marymount University (Applied, Early Action)
  5. The Los Angeles Film School (Applied, Rolling)*
  6. UC Irvine*
  7. Full Sail University (Guaranteed admission)*
  8. UC Riverside*
  9. John Paul the Great Catholic University (Applied for free)*
  10. Georgia State University (In-state back up, would hate going here in actuality)*
  11. = Back up that I should get in. UCI is the biggest reach of my back ups, not that it matters much.

GPA Weighted = 4.05
Unweighted = 3.89

SAT I = 700 reading, 700 writing, 550 math
SAT II = 750 US history, 710 Literature

I have taken the following Honors courses: Chemistry, Geometry, Algebra 2, Precalculus, and Biology. I have taken the following AP courses: AP World History (4), AP English Language and Comp (5), APUSH (5), and two College Courses: Chinese Communist History and Issues in Education. These are that is factored into my GPA as an AP course. Currently taking AP Lit and will also take AP Comp Gov’t next semester.

I have more than enough ECs. I also have UC credit on my transcript thanks to a Model UN Summer Institute I completed at UCLA over the summer.

Thoughts? Chances? Etc. etc.

I say you should be ready to attend UC Riverside or Loyola Marymount. I personally think no one should attend a for profit college, so I would not apply to Full Sail or LA Film. I also don’t think you should ever apply to a college you don’t like. What if you end up there? I would withdraw the application from Georgia.

Are you going to be able to afford the UCs as an out of state student?

How about UNC school of the arts in NC?

No Wesleyan or NYU on the list?

If you’d hate going there, I’d seriously consider not applying.

Warning: UC Irvine and Riverside, while technically “near” the Los Angeles film scene, really aren’t. Each are about an hour away and don’t have the connections that some of your other schools do.

Florida State University

Think of adding U of North Carolina, Wilmington. heard that Wilmington is the Hollywood of the South

My goal is to move to Cali permanently. That’s why there’s some favoritism for the west coast.
