Film portfolio questions

<p>So, the thing is I have a 6 min long video I made for class that I really like, and I think it's my best production. I really want to send it as part of my portfolio (i'm EDing to Tisch for film and TV), but the problem is that it is an adaptation of a short story by a famous brazilian author. Do you think that's gonna be a problem, since I wasn't the one to invent the plot and stuff?
I thought maybe I should send that plus a 3-4 minutes vid with a script written totally by me.</p>

<p>Also, I kinda don't have a solid resume. I have never worked or internshiped or anything seriously related to film. I've only made amateur short films for school assignments and videos for youtube, and participated in some theater performances all over my state with my theater group.
I wonder if everyone that applies there has solid resumes and fancy portfolios and stuff. </p>

<p>They allow you to send up to 10 minutes of work, and ask you to clearly state your contribution to the project. If this adaption is your best work- go for it! I think it is better to send one very strong piece- then several of lesser quality. If you were the cinematographer, editor, director, or other roles- list them all. And of course, credit the author of the work and state it is an adaption. You don’t have to do EVERYTHING. Just be sure what you did was quality work that you are proud of.</p>
