I'm a junior, who recently got into filmmaking. But, I would love to learn more skills and see if I can actually do more of filmmaking. What camps or and pre college programs would you reccomend? I also plan to do an MT camp this summer, so film camp would need to be a week or two at most. Additionally, I'm interning with a local theatre company,so my schedule is tight. MT camp is between July 19 to August 15th.

I doubt you’re going to have many choices. A VAST majority of the film or even theatre programs I’ve found have taken place for the whole month of July and finished in the first week of August–not much happens in late August. You might just be better off diving headfirst into filmmaking itself in the two or three weeks you have before school starts. Get a half decent camera, write a script (or figure out some kind of reality show), hold auditions through Backstage.com or a local community college, edit it yourself, and then post to YouTube. Repeat. If you can’t find a good summer program, there’s no need to waste the time-do it yourself, and explore what you love despite the busy schedule. Best of luck in finding a program, but don’t be horribly discouraged if you can’t…maybe it’s for the best!

@alyrose Luckily,I’ve found Syracuse Summer College, so I’m hoping to get into there. But, thankfully knowing actors since my background remains in theatre, I can cast friends for film portfolios. I’m planning to do a couple of DIY things too along with both MT local camp and possibly Syracuse as well or SOCAPA.
