Film School

Im very interested in film and especially the FSU film program. Being a state school and a top film program it is very enticing and I am wondering how i weigh out.

3.65 unweighted and a 4.5 weighted
1710 SAT(not the best)
I rowed for 3 years
I have well over 400 community service hours
My highschool is a magnet school and the last 3 years ive been in a film program and have mad 5 films thus far. Each i wrote a script, storyboards, shot, and edited.
I also have had an internship at a local film festival where i helped on sets and the organization of the event.

Also any ideas on good people to get recommendations from would be greatly appreciated.

You sound well qualified, but be careful.

The New York Times recently had an article about how lousy it was for film school graduates nowadays.

My advice would be to double major, or at least minor, in something practical.

VERY tough to accepted to - 30 undergrads per year, some of those are transfer students.

If you are really interested I’d make an appointment to visit the college and show them your work.

2 appliations, one for FSU and a separate one for FSU film.

Thousands apply, and 70 are interviewed for 20 freshman slots and 10 transfer slots for a total of 30 accepted per year. So we can’t really tell you you chances. The deadline for the Film School admission (BFA Production) is OCT17, and every piece of required info must arrive before Oct 17 or the application is not considered.

Good Luck.
