Film School

Hello guys. I'm a 'would-be' Columbia University student (high school class of 2006), originally from Atlanta, Georgia. Anyway, I'm wondering what are the chances of me getting into NYU Film School. Also, does anyone have ANY more recommendations of great film schools around the world (with me, the location and cost of the school doesn't really matter). As far as 'experience' goes, I'm already involved in the entertainment business, in more than one way, and I work on a film that all of you have heard of, but if I told you my story you wouldn't believe me, so I won't go into all that.

Here 'were' my H.S. stats:

Anyway, I did a lot in high school (well, more than a lot, I was an outright bad ass n*gger, but I'm humble), some other things, but that gives you the general concept of me. I hope I don't look like a freak, but it's safe to say that I was definitely a 'star' growing up. I know it seems extreme and even unbelievable to some, but I went to a great suburban high school, and I had plenty intelligence and plenty money at my disposal. I know you guys can guess what I spent high school doing (going, going, going, going). Anyway, I come from a wealthy family (posh Buckhead area of Atlanta, Georgia), spent nearly $1000 on college applications, and I got into every single Ivy League school plus numerous other schools, even got a full ride to Columbia, however, due to special circumstances/opportunities, I'm not in college. Anyway, for a guy with extreme acting/film production experience, what film school would you recommend for me?

P.S. - Cost/location doesn't mean anything. I know a good deal about film schools, but I've never been to one. Just something I may do for the enjoyment. Also, if you know about any film schools enhancing themselves and adding facilities within the next few years please let me know that too, because it'll be at least a few years before I have the opportunity to go. Peace and God Bless!

USC. Best film school around, and the donation from Lucas just means that it's going to get bigger and better.

Columbia has a graduate program in film - you might want to consider studying something else your undergraduate years (philosophy, English/creative writing, theater, psychology), then going to Columbia grad school.

NYU's "film school" is the Tisch School of the Arts, and it's rivalled only by USC's School of Cinematic Arts for being the best film school in the nation. Other noteworthy schools are Chapman and Emerson.

You mention "extreme acting/film production experience", but where is it on your resume? What exactly have you done?

//well, more than a lot, I was an outright bad ass n*gger, but I'm humble//

I'm not so sure about that "humble" bit. You're a little over the top.

so all that stuff you have is AMAZING, but film schools are looking for talent, creativity, and potential. if you want a real hard core film school NCSA should be your top choice. North Carolina School of the Arts is really the best film school out there. They have full sized sound stages and a sweeeet foley studio and only about a billion connections so you can be sure to get into the biz. Your stats won't really matter though, admission is almost completely based on your writing sample and then if they like that you have to go through an interview. If you're still into doing acting then you might want to try another school though, I'm looking at Emersn because it's the only school I know that has amazing programs for film and theatre and allows you to be involved in both. I hope that helps.

sorry *Emerson
