What do people know about LMU film school, espeically film production? I got into the film production at LMU and screenwriting at Chapman.

I have heard that both LMU and Chapman have very good programs for film production and for screenwriting. That said, LMU is suppose to be slightly better for screenwriting and Chapman for film production. Overall, the last “film school survey” I saw had Chapman at 11th in the country and LMU at 12.
My daughter also got into LMU for film production. We are going up next week to the “Admitted Students Day” and looking at it again. It looks like its going to be between LMU and Emerson College. Anyone have any advice?

SanDiegoParent…have you visited Emerson and seen their location, facilities, etc?

corky…I haven’t but my wife and daughter have. They really liked the school and the film department. They said the equipment was very up to date. My daughter also like the urban setting. It reminder her of NYU which she was also accepted to but unfortunately we can’t afford.

My son is at Chapman for Film Production but was also accepted at Emerson…we toured Emerson and thought the film facilities were pretty good and the programming seemed strong but none of us loved the urban setting…we all wanted an actual campus versus a cluster of buildings across from the Boston Commons…our tour guides kept saying ‘Boston is your campus’ but that just wasn’t what we wanted…we never actually toured LMU because my son didn’t apply there but I know from pictures that it is a beautiful place…if the urban setting works for your daughter, I think Emerson is a good choice…just remember the snow and cold weather will be a bit different…which is maybe good for her…my son is loving being in CA versus WI because it is a different setting/climate…good luck with your decision…
