film/theatre transfer

I was told this might be a good place to post my inquiry even though I'm not in MT.

I'm (almost)a junior at The University of South Florida and wondering if anyone could offer some suggestions because I don't know where to start.
I have a 3.3 college gpa and average SAT scores but I'm highly active in extracurriculars(I write for USFs school paper, president of two campus clubs, etc. I'm currently majoring in theatre and mass comm-broadcasting.
I'm looking for a school with a good theater/film department. I would like to major in cinema studies(the operative word being "studies", I don't want to go to film school per se) and double or minor in Theatre.
I would love to transfer to a small, liberal arts type school and get away from from the noisy city. My ideal situation would be a college where almost everyone lives on campus- a very close knit sort of deal.

I would check out Elon in North Carolina. Don't know about transferring there - but they have a well recognized School of Communication and it looks like you can do a Cinema focus. Don't know about double majoring either - but they have a good theatre department, as well. I am sure others who know Elon better will chime in. It is a beautiful small campus in a very small town - would definitely give you a break from the big city!

Muhlenberg has a new film dept, and a wonderful theatre department. Many students do double majors. I am not sure about the cinema studies aspect, but the school is small, and meets your other criteria.

I think as a theatre double major, you might do better in a school that does not offer a BFA also, as those students may end up with priority in casting, and class selection.

Not a small school, but I would like to add my two cents about Florida State. I was originally a film major at FSU, but had a change of haeart and recently changed into their Musical Theatre program. Needless to say, both programs are INSANE amounts of awesome. FSU's film school is highly competitive, usually having near 1,000 applicants and a class of about 20, but the department is incredible--very small and very close knit. You can find out various answers on FSU's great theatre school, but the film school is TOP NOTCH! One of the best in the country, sincerely.

Done :)

thanks for the suggestions you guys. I wanted to transfer to FSU(even though it's a massive place) but they're only accepting CC transfers for the spring & who knows where it'll go after that?
