Hi!
I applied to FSU for the film production major for the Fall of 2015. Website says they’ll notify about decisions in March. Is anyone else in the same position, or just know anything about the film program? I know the program is VERY selective but I honestly have no idea my chances of getting in.
I’m transferring from Northeastern University
I have 50 credits already.
My college GPA is 3.82
My SAT was 2150
For the artistic side of things, my submission wasn’t that strong, and that’s what has me worried. I only made my first short film this past fall, and I’m not in love with it, but I submitted it because it’s all I had.
I also don’t have any film-related extracurriculars (which they really seem to emphasize), although I do have a sport and volunteer extracurricular, as well as part-time jobs.
Anybody else in the same boat and as anxious as I am?
I’m pretty much in the same boat as you. Do you feel confident in your non dialogue script about the post office? I imagine they put a lot of weight on that. Also when did you apply for FSU (not the film program)? Are you already accepted into FSU and are waiting to hear back from the Film school?
Hey, glad there’s others out there in the same position! I applied to FSU itself like, a week before I submitted the film school application. I haven’t heard anything about my acceptance to FSU in general, but I also put film production as the only major I was interested in, so I don’t think I’ll be getting into FSU at all if I don’t get into the film school.
I honestly don’t know what to think about my non dialogue script. I think it’s pretty decent for my level of writing, but I will never claim to be skilled at creative writing (and my interest is camera work not screenplays). I liked that there was no dialogue because I think I can describe a scene well but any time I try to write conversations it is a disaster.
Are you applying to any other film schools? I also am applying to UT Austin, Chapman, and Loyola.
Oh, also does anyone know if FSU’s film school prefers to accept students from in-state? For transfers, do they prefer admitting students coming from community colleges or other 4 year schools? I’m a little worried because my home state is Pennsylvania.
I have read that they prefer transfers already in FSU. I have applied to both FSU and UCF (both instate, I’m from Florida) I honestly don’t expect to get in to FSU I’m transferring from a community college and they only accept around ten transfers a year.
