Fin aid as a transfer

I was accepted as a 2009 freshman, but I only recieved a 4000k grant from them. I got loans, and fed. grants but there was NO way I could afford it. I want to apply again as a transfer, however does anyone think the financial aid would go up? Also, what is the best way to get more aid to afford it. Advice would be greatly appreciated!

I’m literally in the same position as you but I didn’t apply last year I just got in as a sophomore transfer for this fall but I have to defer cause they only have me 5k for grants and 2500k for aid. So I think I’m going to defer till spring or reapply in fall so I can get more aid. It really depends on how much your parents make year to year

Northeastern does not give great financial aid. It was actually one of the reasons why I transferred out. My financial aid package (grants and loans) was roughly half of tuition and room and board for my first year and did not change much for this upcoming year.

Half tuition and room and board seems pretty generous to me.

When you’re expected contribution is only $2000 and you have to pay $25000… that seems like a lot. With that being said, I don’t know other people’s circumstances, but I am just saying that my financial aid did not change from year to year.
