Does FA cover the cost of books and such? Do we get to keep the books after each semester? Which food plan does FA cover?

They cover the average cost of books which is i believe around 700 for this year.
They also cover the traditional bear food plan which is approx 4-5k a year.

But we get to keep the books right?

EDIT:
The Bear traditional plan covers "up to 14 meals per week." That does not allow for 3 meals a day/7 days a week. Is that what the Big Red Bucks are used for? For buying food?

There are about 4 different meal plans to choose from. I have the most basic one which is one meal a day ( I use it for dinner) and I use my BRBs for lunch (at Trillium). Unless you get up early enough for breakfast before your classes, I don't think you would actually use all your meals. My first semester I had a bigger meal plan, but second semester I downgraded because I decided to sleep in instead of eat breakfast. And yes, BRBs are only for food, like snacks and such.

This has probably been answered somewhere already and I just can’t find it using the search feature.

Does any balance of Big Red Bucks remaining at the end of fall transfer to spring? I know it doesn’t transfer to next year, just not sure if it transfers to next semester.

Disregard the previous question. I found my answer on the Cornell website.

For anyone else with the same question. BRB can be rolled from Fall to Spring, but they must all be used or lost by end of Spring semester.

I heard that BRB’s don’t transfer. Maybe I’m crazy…

I’m on the 10ml/wk plan right now, but next semester I’m going to go down to 7. I don’t eat breakfast, and when I do it just have a bagel or something from my room. I really only eat dinner in the dining halls, and usually brunch on sundays. To think I originally thought I’d need 14… lol.

From the Cornell Website

Big Red Bucks (BRBs). When you enroll in a meal plan, you will be issued a minimum required amount of Big Red Bucks (BRBs) in a declining-balance account that is accessed with your Cornell ID card. You can purchase additional BRBs during the semester by depositing additional money in your BRB account (each BRB equals $1). BRBs can be used only for food purchases. You can use BRBs to purchase your own meals at any Cornell Dining location, but not to purchase meals for guests. Any debit balance in your account carries over only from the fall semester to the spring semester. The entire balance in the account must be used by May 22, 2010. BRBs are not transferable, and are not refundable except upon cancellation of meal plan membership.

Score I doubt I’ll have any left over, but if I do it’s nice to know I won’t have to waste them. lol
