I've heard numerous stories about nyu's ungenerous financial aid. Is this really true? I've been considering stern for a while, but the fin aid concerns me now. My family currently makes approx 50k a year. So how much grant will i be given or loans i have to take out? If would really help if you guys post how much are you guys paying out of pocket each year.

It's true, but if you are willing to work with loans, manageable. B/c of my family's status during the year in which I applied and submitted a FAFSA, I was given the entire tuition in fin aid (loans), except for what I had in scholarships.

If Stern finds you an exceptional candidate, you will probably recieve scholarship money (anywhere from a few thousand to more than ten thousand, from what I've heard) and if you are selected as one of the few Stern Scholar's (basically the best of the best of the applicant pool) you will get quite a bit more, but if you are looking for something like a near to full ride, you're out of luck.

This is based on my own fin aid (my annual income was about the same as yours) from NYU and being granted a scholarship from NYU as well. Hope it helps any.
