Fin Aid: Travel/Personal/Incidental Expenses paid for???

Ok so I got my financial aid package. According to the package, the expected expenses are: (I rounded them to nearest hundred for "privacy" purposes)

Tuition & Fees $40,500
Housing $7,300
Meals $4,200
Books $1,000
Personal $2,000
Travel $800
Incidental Expenses $1,300
Total Expenses ~$57,000

AND my total financial aid amounts to just about $57,000 w/ ~$50 "Estimated Total Amount Covered By Family." There is about $2600 in Work Study and the rest are grants.

So how does the "Personal/Travel/Incidental Expense" portion of the package work? Will Penn actually give me the money to fly from [wherever I live] to Penn? ---I doubt it but I want them to :P haha

What about the "Personal Expense?" I refuse to believe that Penn could give me money for "clothing, laundry, recreation, and telephone charges."

I actually think they do. My package was different from yours, but Penn works by refunds. I’m not sure why, but it always works to your advantage. Basically, if they discover that your tuition, family contribution etc. has been paid for, they give you a check with the difference. It’s pretty nice. I’ve gotten three checks so far this year.

bump please
