Final Acting Decisions Background - Class of 2022

@workinmum - Fantastic news! So very happy for your daughter! The waitlist openings are spreading joy!

I agree with you - Congratulations everyone!

Congratulations, @workinmum!

@workinmum - congratulations on Calarts for you and your D! Such wonderful news! Enjoy the moment!

Congratulation @frontrowmama and @workinmum! Things are moving and shaking! AWESOME!!!

Congrats to all the CalArts people!!! Your kids will LOVE the weather!

I love reading the stories and all of the support and information here. I may post a longer journey story later. Here’s the summary:

My D wrestled with the BA / BFA and the acting/MT choices. She applied to a lot of schools and had many good choices in the end. She didn’t get into the top top BFA schools, but did get into Point Park, University of Evansville and Viterbo, and she got into all the BA programs that she applied to except Brown and she is on the waitlist at Barnard.

She narrowed it down to Connecticut College, Drew, Evansville, and Northeastern. A couple weeks ago she watched a friend from her high school play Maureen in Rent on the national tour, walked out of the theater and said, “I’m going to Evansville for the BFA.” She continued to wrestle a little longer, but determined it was the best fit for her because the curriculum has a high percentage of academic classes (40%) and it is a theatre performance BFA which means combined acting and MT. Acting is the emphasis, and that is her strong suit.

The journey was grueling, but she got through it and is still 100% committed to being a performer.

Congratulations @workinmum How exciting!! Congratulations @diamondparent Evansville have produced some amazing Actors and Actresses!

Congratulations, @diamondparent!

Also congratulations to @frontrowmama! (I think I had missed you initially - the final decisions are all flooding in now, which is wonderful! I love seeing everyone find their place!)

Congratulations on the final decision @diamondparent ! She had several strong and very different programs to choose from and it looks like she’s found the right match. My daughter is also a strong academic and an “Actor who sings” who ultimately decided on a BFA program so I totally relate to the goal and I think your D will be very happy at Evansville.

I think she will love Evansville, too. Now she’s trying to find some others going there. We’re on the east coast and none of her friends have heard of the school.

It’s not a huge school so no big surprise - I went to a college outside of Philly that was well-known in the east but got nothing but blank looks in LA… I will bet Evansville has an admitted student FB page and some admitted student events. She’ll find her class!

Congratulations @diamondparent !!

@diamondparent, congratulations to your D on Evansville. Great school! Go purple aces! I hope she can take advantage of the semester at Harlaxton. How fun to live in and take classes in a Hogwarts style castle for a semester. It was my daughters first acceptance. Everyone we met there (admissions, faculty and students) was so nice and helpful and we were super impressed with the performance we saw. There’s no doubt they get great training there. My D ultimately picked a large school with more opportunity to dance but I am positive that she would have loved it at U of E, too.

@diamondparent - congrats to your D! In the Chicago theatre scene - the Playbill bios are full of Evansville alums. I love that your D knew at a certain moment it was her school!

Congratulations @diamondparent !!!

Thank you for the support, everyone, and extra info. Each time she or I learn something new about Evansville, we like it more. @dramamama2022 She is excited about Harlaxtan!

@diamondparent - thanks for sharing your story, especially interesting since she had variety in her top accepted programs. Congratulations on Evansville! It sounds like it continues to feel right which is amazing! Enjoy!

Such great stories, congratulations to all these amazing kids. On March 1st, my S was admitted to Yale MFA (Acting) Class of 21. It was only five years ago, while he was a junior in HS, that I joined CC thinking I’d better get a feel for the journey ahead. Its been a great ride so far and I look forward to what the future holds. Break a leg to all!

@3puttcol Congratulations!!! getting his MFA from Yale is my sons dream! this has to be an exciting time for you and your family. What an accomplishment

@3puttcol - I am completely ignorant about the MFA world (except I know that Yale is an amazin program). Would you mind telling us what/where your S got his undergradaue degree in?
