So most of you have read the saga of me trying to convince my parents to let me go to UE, and it all worked out. I really would rather not go into what I wanted in a college, because it’s rather extensive(Go look at my previous posts) and I got a bit of what I wanted, but I also had to compromise, and I think that I ended in in the right place regardless. UE just seemed like a great fit, I LOVE the small program(Many don’t, and that’s okay!), and I love that there is no musical theatre program or BA program that gets pushed off to the side. I love UE, the people there just made me feel at home, and I’m am SOOO excited for next year. Thanks to everyone for their support over the last month or so!

Accepted: Ithaca, NYU Tisch (Playwrights), Webster Conservatory, Boston University
Waitlist: BU, but I was taken off!
Rejections: UCLA, Calarts, Emerson
Final Decision: BOSTON UNIVERSITY!
Factors Considered: Well, after a long journey, I was very settled on Ithaca. So settled, in fact, that I had sent in my deposit, visited, and met some amazing students there. Then BU calls me a few days ago to alert me that I had made it off of their waitlist. I had pushed that to the back of my mind when I was waitlisted. I expected to never hear from the school again. BU was my top choice before I was waitlisted. Then I switched gears! Ultimately, I struggled and struggled to decide if I should switch, but BU felt so right for me (the city, no MT program to be shadowed by, the way the program is run, the Huntington).

Accepted: Evansville, Roosevelt CCPA, Hartt
Waitlist: Boston University, NYU Tisch
Rejections: CCM Drama, CMU, Depaul, Emerson, Guthrie, Ithaca, UMich, Pace, UNCSA, Purchase, Rutgers, Texas State
Final Decision: Evansville
Factors Considered: I just love everything about this school! At first I was a little concerned about not being on the east coast or in a big city, but after I visited, all my worries disappeared. It is a pretty small program and everyone was so wonderfully kind and enthusiastic during my visit. All performance majors get plenty of opportunities to perform all four years, and I fell like there are so many great opportunities to do different types of productions. And although I’m not sure if I’d want to go to grad school right after I graduate, I know that this program has a great reputation with many great grad schools. And the director of the program was so wonderful to talk to and I could see how much he cares about each student. After visiting, I just knew it was the right place for me.

Accepted: USC, UCLA, BU, University Minnesota/Guthrie, University of Michigan, UNCSA, Chapman, CalArts, DePaul, Fordham, LMU (dvd audition)
Waitlist: Suny Purchase (top tier wait according to the school)
Rejections: Juilliard (was waitlisted to go back to NYC for the second round callbacks)
Final Decision: USC BFA

Factors Considered: Great BFA program with fabulous training. Sister is a sibling in the program and LOVES it! Strong academics. Location, location, location. Both my son and daughter are in the unions and have representation. Being in LA allows them to go on outside auditions as long as they don’t conflict with their classes or rehearsals. University setting: football, Greek life, etc. Trojan Family - extremely strong alumni association which is dedicated to helping fellow alums get work :)
