Great efforts, Wolverines!! I like Trey Burke!! :)

Gah frustrating end. Young team though. Lots of potential depending on who sticks around.

i’d rather have NFL replacement refs than these bozos…
goal tending at the beginning of the game missed, then burke foul #2 and #3 are the worst i have ever seen…
remind me to put money on pitino’s horse if it’s as fixed as this crap

Yeah lots of bad officiating.

But Louisiville is a top team and I was glad that Michigan was able play a great game against them. This year’s basketball has exceeded my expectations. They had to beat a lot of tough teams to get to the finals.

Dieng had a great match-up against McGary.

I’m glad I was able to call it on Spike. Next year, this team should still have great season even after Burke leaves.Don’t think Tim Hardaway Jr. and GRIII seem quite NBA ready yet. And it’ll be fun to watch Spike develop too.

So sad. Great year though. Sadly I think Burke, Hardaway and McGary are gone. Young yes but this was the year to get it done!

That has always been my frustration with basketball at both the collegiate and pro level. It’s as if the referees officiate knowing who is the game favorite and make calls accordingly.

I thought the refs were bad, but I honestly thought they were equally bad to both sides.

Also, Bigdoglover, McGary straight up said recently he would be returning for another year, which I think is smart. He’s still developing. Hardaway probably shot his way out of the draft in this tournament. He’ll probably declare, but I think there’s still some small chance of him returning, as long as the voices of reason get into his head the way they should.

I could tell the refs were bad, but I couldn’t take off my Michigan goggles long enough to see it both ways. (I really tried, just honest self-assessment here.) Was anything as egregious as the missed goal-tend and block?

Great effort. Too bad we could not hold on to our 36-23 lead! The officiating was horrible, and while it was not entirely in favor of Louisville, they certainly benefited far more than Michigan. Burke’ block was the turning point of the game. If it had been called properly, and Burke had not been penalized (his third I believe), I think Michigan may have won the game.

This team could be great next year…or mediocre. If McGary and Richardson return, we could be a Sweet 16 team. If they leave, along with Hardaway and Burke, then we likely will not even make to the tourney.

Ent,

Hope McGary comes back and I agree he should but before the tourney started he wasn’t as high a pick. Now they are talking around 20th pick. He will be the key, if he is back they will be solid, they need his size. If Hardaway were ever to come back it would be gravy. I say Burke and Hardaway are gone and McGary is 50/50.

They have two top 35 recruits coming in (PG, SF) and another guy in top 100. More help on the way.

How about Albrecht last night. Wow, game of a lifetime on that stage. Good for him!

Spiiike! Spiiiiike! Wowsa. I had people from all over the country emailing me and tweeting me, etc. All wondering - who is this Spike kid? ha ha He was all set to go to App State when we signed him. I’d feel bad for ‘taking him’ from them but…they owe it to us after that 2007 defeat in football! Lol

I really thought we were going to do it when I saw CWebb in the house.

I was always against players going pro. Always liked when they came back to UM and finished degrees or ‘stayed with their team’ or whatever. Then one of my friends would have been one of the first few chosen in football draft after his Junior year. He came back to Michigan. Got hurt playing somewhere he didn’t usually play his Senior year, and his shoulder was never the same. Still was drafted in the first round but not with an iota of the excitement that had surrounded him the year before. Looking back on the whole thing now, he should have left Junior year. He could have always come back and finished his degree. I know Juwan Howard finished, even though he left as a Junior…

Whomever needs to go, needs to go. They’ll make some money, give back to UM, and eventually (hopefully) mentor the other young kids coming up. You get so few chances in life to make what an NBA contract is going to pay you. (first round $ that is.) I will not begrudge one of them for leaving.

Ah fiddlesticks! Great season and so happy for Spike.

I agree with Alexandre - that ‘non-foul’ foul that was called when Burke blocked that clean was a huge turning point in the game. Guys started feeling no matter what they did, the game wasn’t going to be called fairly. Wind went officially out of their sails. It’s too bad…

Sorry laurendog - great year though!

Bigdog - Spring game for football this weekend. Thank goodness! :)

Michigan BBall is back. Football returned two years ago after a three-year absence, Basketball returned this year after a fifteen-year absence!

^^Hockey took a sabbatical. ;-)

What about Michigan Baseball and Lacrosse? ;)

Lacrosse is a brand new varsity sport, so they obviously have a way to go. Who cares about college baseball? zzzzzzzzzz. Women’s softball is more entertaining.

I want to go so very much but I just can’t bear a high of 48 degrees. A HIGH of 48 degrees.

48 degrees is t-shirt weather.

The updated forecast is a high of 46. In mid-April.

I find myself in the strange position of wearing Michigan shirts and rooting for Michigan… being all “Rah, rah, MICHIGAN!” while simultaneously thinking, “I hate this freakin’ state.”
