We're watching the OT of the UNC-UMD game. We told D before the game that maybe she should decide where she's going to school by going with the winner of the game (we are in NC, so the in-state tuition would be sweet). We've all been loudly cheering for the TERPS!

We did the same thing last year. That's so funny! Way to go Terps! Is that Terps over Heels in 8 of the last 11 contests?

Crazy game. As much as I dislike Vasquez...he sure can play sometimes.

His game today was simply brilliant and may have gone a long way towards saving his coach's job.

Can't believe his was only the 3rd triple double in the history of the program. We need to keep it going against the rest of the North Carolina teams.

show me the person that didnt get chills when they won and students stormed the court, very sweeet

I certainly had the chills....what a great game to watch (if you're a Terps fan!!!!) I went to the store tonight with my "Maryland Terps MOM" hat, and Maryland sweatshirt. I was happy that no rabid 'Heels fan attacked me (here in Charlotte!!!)

Well, after a pretty lack-luster season up to this point, it was FANTASTIC to finally have something to really cheer about this year! When DS decided to go to UMD last year, I told him up front, "Get ready to have your heart crushed. There are games that make you SOOOO happy to be a Terp, and there are games that just make you shake your head and wonder when we'll ever be able to have a consistency become a trademark of the program. A true Terp fan learns to live with the highs (like a National Championship) and lows (like a 40+ point loss to Duke).

DS and I had many conversations this year about the Terp football and basketball games. I'm just glad he was there to see one of the special ones. He was there, storming the court after the victory -- we were at home, trying to do the impossible of picking his face out in a wild crowd!

Great win! Next up: Duke!

Haha....keep on trying to find him in a crowd. Last year, on one of the ESPN bball games, D was shown twice....and one was for several seconds. (Long enough for me to scream, at least!!!)

Well, astromom, I get the paper this morning to read the analysis on the game, and there on the front page of the sports section is a huge picture of the Terps celebrating in the home crowd on the court. Jokingly, I say to Pima "Think I should try looking for DS in THAT picture? It would be like finding Waldo!"

And two seconds later, as I scan the picture, whom do you think I see, but DS right in the middle of the crowd! Well, we got something to hang up on the wall now, with the caption underneath saying, "Here's what Mom and Dad spent a LOT of their hard earned dollars on!"

But it is worth every penny!

The women's team just put on a show against Duke. 77-59.

oh my gosh its so great someone started this thread, that was absolutely the best sporting event i've been to all year, i have a video of everyone rushing the court, i watched it today, it looks so cool, it was such a great experience, such an adrenaline rush!! so to all u future terps, even though we may not be the best team around, we can definitely have some awesome, awesome games!! GO TERPS!

I remember those days waiting outside Cole Field house to just to get a ticket to the game. Then waiting all over again on game day to get a good seat in anticipation of a great game like the one yesterday! GO TERPS!

We Tivo'd it...DS had called right before the game started to tell us where he was sitting, so everytime they showed the kids we slow mo the program...to no avail we never saw him. Open up the WaPO last night and there he was, clear as day in the pic. Sounds funny, but to Bullet and I we immediately realized this would be a memory he would keep forever. Prior to the game Bullet and I were talking and he even said I just hope that one time DS will be able to rush the court for an unexpected win...I laughed and told him I doubted that Saturday was going to be the day! I guess my psychic powers were off...can you imagine if you took a bet that day how much you would have won, esp. if you took odds of OT!

I have always said college is about the whole life, not just academia...it is the last time you can just be a kid and have fun...the terps fulfilled that on Saturday for thousands of kids!

Bulletandpima, I hope you keep the ENTIRE page of the paper, instead of just the clipping of the picture. Twenty some years ago, there was a picture of me playing the state championship game in a national newspaper, I clipped it out. Guess what it has been reduced to now? A couple of guys chasing a ball. No date, no time, no description. None of the excitement.

After eliminating the players' big faces, finding this Waldo should be relatively easy; there are only a handful of faces that are recognizable in the picture :).

I am about to go and get the entire page laminated and then make it into a frame pic...just for him to have forever. To me it is too cool. I did that for DD (she is a jr and wants to be a history teacher...I have laminated all of the WaPo pages regarding the election and inaug. I just can imagine her classroom walls decorated with histoic newspapers...I only wish I thought about that back in 01)

BTW you said 20 yrs ago...Bullet was there back then...which yrs? He was there for Len Bias and Boomer...could you imagine if you had saved the WaPo from the aftermath of Len Bias or Lefty!

Going to the tournament! #10 seed. Better than nothing, but it means we'd play Memphis 2nd round if we win our first game.

Go Terps! Beat Cal!

Let's go baby. Cal has nothing on MD

Way to go TERPS!

D and her bf are here from UMD on spring break, little sis is most likely headed there next year, and our good family friend who is a Terp Alum were all here yesterday when the rankings came out. I called down to them to announce that they were IN! Much cheering here!!!!
