Final or Average GPA?

I have a question about what the USAFA and normal colleges look at.

In 9th grade my GPA’s were as follows: 3.88, 3.81, 4.0, 3.88. If you were to add those and divide by 4 (find the average), you would get 3.8925 as my average GPA. My final grades in all of my classes, however, were all A’s, making my Final Average for the year a 4.0 (in a class if I get A, A, B+, B+, the final grade for that class is an A).

Do they look at the 3.8925 (average GPA from each individual quarter) or the 4.0 (average FINAL GPA from each year) or both?

I figure the final from each semester. My high school used to do that quarter grade check up thing. It's cute, but not official. Only what shows up a on transcript counts.

Thanks, everyone else I asked also said it's the final gpa.

Quarters from my school didnt show up either, only the semester grade did. In fact, our "Exam" grades did not show up either (which is some cases was a blessing).
