Okay, I am splurging, tomorrow I plan to order my daughter a Sager NP8690 from XOTICPC. It will have a bunch of trimmings, but after looking at other brands, I think this is a strong choice. For the rest of you who want a nice laptop check out this company.

Does she really want/need such a powerful gaming laptop? Especially when it weighs over 7 pounds… I’ve heard plenty of good things about sager laptops but portability is not heir strength especially wih a bettery life of about 1 hour…

:\ I have to echo Chipmoney. Why such a powerful gaming laptop with a poor battery? Is it what she wants or what you want to get her? If I were her, I’d rather have a $400 Dell from Best Buy with a better battery life, because she probably doesn’t need half of what that laptop offers.

Seems really excessive. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying go out and get that $400 Dell, just consider what she’ll be using it for when buying it. If she’s going to be taking it to class for notes… good luck with that laptop.

She doesn’t plan on taking her laptop to class unless it is required and if so I will get her a netbook or small & cheap laptop. She wants power and I have explained the mobility issues. Personally, I would want a powerful desktop and a low end laptop, but she doesn’t want it and it is her money.
