I'm planning on completing the international business program at Mississippi State University. With this program I will get a Bachelor of Arts in German with a minor in French and a Bachelor of Business Administration in something with an international business concentration. I am leaning toward either a finance or an accounting degree. What exactly is the difference between a finance and an accounting degree what jobs would come with each and which would be more suitable for international business?

NEIN NEIN NEIN NEIN NEIN! haha, the only word I know in german, except Shi***coff. haha.

Firstly. I would double check to see if they really offer an accounting minor, I know personally my school doesn’t because an accounting Minor is a wasted cost (you can’t sit for CPA) so whats the point on a minor?.

Therefore, I would point to finance. This will focus more on the environment of the corporate side and might even have a basic accounting course in it. It should teach you about how to read the balance sheet and financial statement.

If you can’t read those, then your going to be in trouble in the corporate world (at least that 's what my professors say, and what do they know?).

Good luck on your decision.

also I need 15 posts to reply to someone’s PM, so, yeah…

Accountants create the information. Those in finance use it.

Accounting has high job security, but finance could have higher earnings potential. Other than that it’s all up to your tastes. I personally found finance boring and got out.

Since your getting a minor I would stick with Accounting… I think it provides a broader base… if you ever start a business… bookkeeping is essential, many admin. type jobs require you to keep track of costs, budget, do payroll and it will help you understand taxes…

I would do the double major…many classes overlap each other and you would only take one or two more classes. Excellent way to make yourself more marketable in the job market, and it is worth it in my opinion.
