Financial Aid after taking a semester off

I've noticed similar threads on this matter, but I wanted to explain my situation and get some feedback/advice on this specifically.

I'm about to enter my third year of college, but I might need to take a the fall semester off because of my housing situation. Basically, I was unable to find a place to live off-campus (plans fell through) and without a place to live, I can't go to school because I live too far to commute.

My main concern has to do with financial aid. Will I be able to receive financial aid for the Spring 2014 semester even though i'm taking the Fall 2013 semester off? Also, will the six month grace period for repaying loans start once I officially take the semester off, or does this not matter because I will be returning for the Spring 2014 semester.

I am going to call my school's financial aid office Monday so they can help me out with this situation as well

Thank you for your help!!

Grace period starts when your status is less than half-time student.

Also contact the Campus Housing as well.

Yes, contact your school’s housing office. Also look on Craigslist and any additional online sites your school’s housing office might link to. My kid managed to find an apartment from the other side of the world by this type of process. Also, see if there is a bulletin board or something in the housing office where you can post that you are looking for a room. SOMEONE will have an opening in a house – someone who was going to come back this fall with have financial issues, family issues, illness, drop out at the last minute, or something. Happens all the time. You may not be living with your buddies, but I don’t believe you can’t find some housing arrangement.
