My daughter will be attending Valencia CC to get her Associate degree and than has direct connect to UCF for BS, since the school is about 3hrs from our home, we need to get her in off campus housing. Can this be put into financial aid?
Your community college likely has limited need based aid. Most don’t meet the full need for students who attend.
Your daughter will get a $5500 Direct Loan. If you are very low income, she could get a Pell Grant or a portion of it. Some community colleges have work study. Most do not have school funded grants.
You are in Florida. Does Bright Futures come into play for CC students?
If you are asking…will the community college provide financial aid to cover the costs of room and board? My guess is no. Most community colleges do not have the financial aid resources to do so.
If you have enough financial aid left over after covering direct costs from Valencia you can use it for housing and other expenses. Do you know how much aid you will have left over?
I have actually looked at their COA and they do have complete breakdown including living off campus. I will be talking to financial Aid dept very soon once my FASFA gets processed.
Are you eligible for Pell Grant? If so you may also be eligible for FSAG. Those are the basic need based aid available.
For additional aid, make sure fill the application for Valencia Foundation Scholarship, most are also based on need.

So they estimate about 16k total costs on average. Her actual costs will depend on actual rent and expenses.
It’s silly to be borrowing for a CC and living costs. She should go to the CC near your home so she won’t accumulate a bunch of debt that will be VERY hard to pay off once she graduates.
What is her major and career goal?
^^Many students go to Valencia and then to UCF. Valencia is more like the little sister to UCF than just a commuter CC. There are community colleges in Gainesville and Tallahassee like this too and I know at both of those there are apartments set up to house students from the cc’s and UF and FSU together. Still a little cheaper than going to UCF.
