Hey all, I have a question, wondering if someone can help. I am a full aid student just moving in to UVA. I know that I have money left over on my aid package after tuition/fees, room, and board for my textbooks. I was wondering, how would I go about using this money to buy my books? Such as, how do I even get this money? And also, do I have to use the money to buy textbooks from the UVA bookstore? Or can I use the money to buy them from wherever? (Such as amazon, etc.)

My daughter, although not at UVA is on full FA as well. Take this with a grain of salt, but from what I know from her school and others is that you need to wait for the first day of school, go to FA and request your check for your books, etc. My daughters school usually has her book/travel/misc. check to her within 3 days after ther first day of classes. She usually then orders books from whatever person she can on amazon with expedited shipping.

You can order your books from the bookstore on-line by clicking on Textbook Info on SIS. Once you enter your class number and section, you will see the required books. Once you select books for all your classes, you can choose Student Account as your method of payment. The charges will automatically show up in SIS and will be subtracted from the refund you will receive, so you don’t have to pay anything when you pick the books up.

If you want to order books from somewhere else, I guess you’ll have to wait until you receive your refund.
