you should get your award soon...it took me about 2 weeks to get it.
I am pretty sure that i put on the application that he was retired, but I think they may have just used the EFC to get the award out quickly.

when is the decision date? till when do you have time to tell cornell that you are going to go to their school in fall 2007?
how much is the deposit if you decide to go?
your financial aid package comes 2 weeks after their decision date?

you have until june 1st. The deposit is 400 i thnk.

yeah june 1st,,,or 2 weeks after you get you decision, whichever is later.

i still havent received my finaid! I got this email on friday:

According to our records, we show that your application is currently complete, and awaiting a financial aid counselor review. Upon finalization of the review, we will promptly mail your notification letter from our office, to your home address. We are working to get this information out to you as quickly as possible.

I am already having low expectations for finaid, based on what everyone has mentioned on cornell's website. The whole summer earnings + loans is a terrible idea... Considering cornell is a private school, they should have enough fundings to give more money to low income applicants (income below 19,000 for a family of 4 based on the national poverty line)

I thought it was pretty funny that cornell's finaid office had a pamphlet, inside the acceptance folder, asked the question "Is it worth it?" to be in debt....and i think the answer for most low income applicants will probably be NO! lol...
Most of the individuals in that pamphlet that said it was worth it were those with incomes of 50,000 or higher (they must be! since i am pretty sure that no one on the national poverty line would agree). Next time, Cornell should consider adding poor people on that pamphlet...it will show a much more diverse perspective on whether it is "worth it" or not.

shame on cornell!

I always thought Cornell's financial aid was pretty fair...my friend is getting a full ride because she really needs it. Im getting a descent amount of money compared to what I am getting from my other schools. But yeah, my family is the sterotypical mid-income family, enough to support my college, but still tight on the family budget. They are really understanding if u enroll. But then if you decide its not worth it, you should go post on the thread that's titled "is cornell worth it"

oh, cornell actually gives full rides? this is the first time i hear this! is her efc 0? cuz i have seen a lot of efc 0s around here and next thing you know, they get slapped with 10 gs in loans!

I hope I get a free ride after sophmore year and the rest as well. That would be a dream!

has anyone else heard of this "full ride"...or has as friend that has it? cuz from what i hear, this is unheard of!

Full rides are extremely scarce. Your friend is lucky.

why dont u do EOP or something..

i did sign up for eop lol...

i have always been curious... what is eop exactly? what do you get? what do you do? etc...

hmm...i was really unsure of what it was and figured that i didn't qualify cuz i was white...

eop is education opportunity program. At my CC, you basically need to have an income that matches the poverty line; thats prolly not the case for every school.

whats the eop poverty line for cornell?
link for the table?

um, i dont know if cornell has a table, but i remember on the application being asked if i wanted to be a part of it.

I am HEOP.

does anyone know how long this process takes? I sent in my appeal over the weekend via e-mail, and haven't gotten any acknolwedgement that it is under review or even that they have recieved it.

I emailed them with new information (our family grew larger this year) and told them to reply with a confirmation email, and they did. So maybe you could email them again to make sure that they got it? I'd call them, and I'll probably call them tomorrow to see how the finalization process is going...
