Financial Aid at Elon

I was wondering if someone could tell me about financial aid at Elon. I was accepted a couple weeks ago and it has been my dream school for a few years, so it’s an understatement to say I’m excited, but I am very worried about financial aid. They haven’t sent my package yet, but it should be coming soon. I can’t seem to find an up to date number for their average award and I’m hoping someone can shed some light on on to what kind of need based aid they give.

My FA package was on ontrack before I got it in the mail, so check that. As for aid, I got the engagement scholarship with my acceptance, which is merit based, $4,500 a year and a $2k grant for an “Elon experience,” and a small Elon grant which is need based, of $3,800 a year. My EFC was roughly ~$21k, if that helps you at all.

Naviance lists Elon’s avg need-based aid as $5080 and avg merit aid as $2832, so you have an idea, although obviously it’s just an average. Waiting on FA here as well, but on-track will likely show it before it arrives in the mail, so keep checking!

@ntk131998 would you please let me know where you found your OnTrack userid and password. Thank you.

Elon doesn’t have a huge endowment so their need based aid is not generally as good as you might see at other schools, but keep in mind that the COA at Elon is much more reasonable than most similar schools. For our daughter, her aid was less than other schools offered her, but the cost of attendance was comparable. If it comes back unaffordable, give the financial aid office a call. I don’t know if they’d be able to adjust anything or not, but they were very friendly and helpful when we went through a big change in our financial situation while our daughter was a student. Hope it works out well for you!

They sent me an email with instructions on how to set it up after I paid my deposit. If you call the admissions office they’ll help you out, they’re very friendly.
