What's the financial aid like at University of Michigan- Ann Arbor for out-of-state transfer students?

I got in as an instate kid and still got a horrible offer. Realize that they have no merit scholarships left--those all went to the frosh. I have an EFC of only $4,000. They only gave me enough loans and scholarships to cover half the cost....both times. At first they thought I was an out of state, so they gave me $24,000 in aid (this includes loans). When I told them I was in state, they offered me $8000 in scholarships and some more in loans.

i was accepted OOS and you have to pay around 10gs in loans per trimester.

Wow. My family's EFC approaches 0 though. Do you think that will make any difference?

HAHAHA, mine is 0 too and im a URM (we all know Umich caters to URMs), so looks like 10 gs per trimester for you too.

does u of m go by a trimester or semester?

my efc is near 0, and i didn't get much aid at all as an OOS transfer.
expect around 10k in grants and take 30k in loans for each year. that was my case.

Outrageous!

u of M goes by semesters like most schools. i think they call it trimesters because other schools don't have "winter" semesters.

fall (sept-dec)
winter (early jan - late april)

that is 1 academic year and that is what most students do.

there's also spring and summer semesters.. basically just summer classes at any other college.
