I was just admitted last week, when that large wave of admission letters were sent out. When can I expect a financial aid package? That is really the determining influence on my attendance to USC. Thanks!

I remember it being the first week of April last year. On this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/487819-anyone-get-lot-financial-aid-usc.html?highlight=financial , the first post saying they had their package was on April 7th. Good luck!

My EFC for FAFSA was 8,100. Is this low? High? How much can I expect from USC? Please help. I'm the first student in my family (even with two older brothers lol) to be attending a four-year university with any credentials (no offense to my brothers' choices) and i'm really the only scholarly one in the family..so this is new to my mom and I (single parent) and family in general. I JUST NEED HELP!! So, is 8,000 low and how much will USC likely give me?

argh I can't know if I can go until I get my financial aid package... and I really badly want to go :( this is killling me even more than waiting for my decision cause its like well its dangling right there can I have it......???? ahhhhhh

AND I am leaving my home country on the 23rd of march so I wont even be home when that lovely mail comes from the united states. You can access it on the internet right

Do you get financial aid if you are international?

I'm not international... just live overseas... and no you don't

Beeish is an American citizen who happens to be living in Australia. Her uncle is an alumnus of SC. I am uncertain if she is considered an international student according to the financial aid policies.

ny other help?

londonx, your EFC is what your family is expected to contribute according to the FAFSA. So you should expect aid in the amount of Cost of Attendance (around $51000) minus EFC ($8100), which will be around $43,000. This also depends on the figures of the CSS Profile, since the info on CSS is more complete. For example if CSS shows that your family has more assets than appears from questions on FAFSA, the aid might go down a bit, but conversely it could increase if CSS info demonstrates more need.

So basically you should expect to have to pay around $8100, and expect aid in the amount of the $43,000 that's left to pay, which will be covered by grants, low interest loans, or work study. USC tends to be generous, so if FAFSA/CSS demonstrates you really can't pay more than $8000, you'll probably be offered an attractive package. I'm no expert in this, but if you need to know more about the particular kind of loans, I'd suggest you have a look in the Financial Aid threads. When you get your finaid offer, this will also be explained and outlined. Remember too that if there are special circumstances in your family that do not show up on FAFSA/CSS, you can appeal the offer if you can base it on solid evidence of need.

Thanks so much sequoia ;) are u a current USC student?
