Financial aid Award Letter for instate

We have been unable to view our award letter which was unsurprising because I had not submitted a copy of our GA state taxes. I did this on Tuesday and it was received. I do know that we will receive no need based aid and was not expecting any. I contacted the correct FA counselor and the response was "does your D want to accept her loan?" My response "what loan?" Haven't heard back yet. I was just wondering about other instate kids experience with this. Obviously I am looking for confirmation of the Zell Miller and maybe the alumni scholarship. This is my first kid going instate so not really sure how the process works. Thanks!

@‌Stilltay Did you do what you needed on Gacollege411.org? There is an application you need to do to get Zell Miller. But they aren’t going to be able to say for sure your D has Zell until after she graduates because all her grades count.

As far as the Alumni scholarship my DS got one last year but he wasn’t notified about it until after he graduated. I’m not sure if that is normal or not.

There is a box on GT’s financial aid form that asks about loans maybe she checked yes.

Thanks for the answer. According to the GT financial aid website, if you fill out the GT financial aid and the FAFSA you have fulfilled what you need for Zell. You are probably right about the loan.

You are right. If you are applying for financial aid you fill out the FAFSA otherwise if you know you won’t qualify for financial aid you only fill out the Zell/Hope application. I think I filled out both last year because I was confused.:)
