Financial aid award too low??

Hi, I got accepted into Northeastern EA and there are huge differences in my financial aid letter and the NPC. My Northeastern University Grant on my letter is about 30k less than estimated on the NPC and my EFC is almost 15k more on my letter than calculated my FAFSA. Would I be able to get more aid by calling or emailing Northeastern?

Thanks

It is Northeastern’s own determination of need, the FAFSA EFC is irrelevant. Do your parents own a business? Real estate? Are they self employed? Divorced? All that makes the EFC calculator inaccurate.

the NPC may be factoring in the money expected from co-op, while your financial aid letter isn’t

Don’t think the NPC factors in co-op earnings - they are too unpredictable - some are unpaid - some students only do 1 and some do 3 co-opes

The 30k difference between NPC and the grant suggests either the former is off (as tom says) or an error, either OP’s or the school’s. But couldn’t it also be that some merit award is pending?

Yes, call. Ask about the discrepancies.

Coop earnings do not factor into financial aid awards, neither anticipated coop earnings as an entering freshman nor actual coop earnings as a student.
