I just recently received my final aid award and I find that most of my grants and whatnot were gone and in place of them, I have about 15000 in loans.

It wasn't like this for the prelim one. I asked and they said it was because I was late. I faxed it the first time and they said they didn't receive it. So, I mailed it the second time and was told I would still be marked on-time. They still didn't receive it the second time, so I faxed it again.

Is it my fault that they were the ones who didn't receive it? Without the grants, there is no way I am taking that much to go.

When you say you received it, do you mean you received the email from them saying it was ready? Or do you mean it just appeared on your tritonlink page and it changed?

Also keep in mind that the prelim award notice isnt necessarily what you’re going to get. Mine said that I would receive about 18000 from the UCSD grant but I only received 8K

I received the e-mail (my ucsd one) saying it was ready. But when I asked if it was still going to be marked on-time, I also asked is the final one most likely going be like the prelim one and I was told most likely unless something changed on the tax return forms (which did not in my case).

Not to be scornful or anything… but regardless of whether you got the email or not, you should have been checking under the financial aid link in your tritonlink.

I got my financial aid letter about 2 weeks ago but my financial aid package was ready back on June 20th and I had 21 days to take care of it.

Hopefully they wont mark you as late and they can do something.

I didn’t miss the deadline. I faxed it on May 1st and when I saw that there were no check marks next to the tax forms, I asked them and they told me to send them in again. I was worried so I also asked will I penalized and she told me that I would still be marked as on time.

So, second time around, they still didn’t receive them. And now they are saying they don’t even want them because they are not going to review my file.

Is it my fault that they aren’t receiving my mail? Honestly, every single thing I have ever sent to a school has always been received, except for UCSD. I’m just really mad.

I’m not paying like 16000 in loans to go there when it was predicted at only around 5000.

And actually, I do check my Triton Link. I was the one asking them. It seems like they actually don’t even contact you when you’re missing things.

So did you talk to the financial aid office about this? That will probably yield more results than posting on here.

I was in a similar situation where I was “promised” 20k in grants but only received 5k in my final award. I was confused and angry just as much as you but everything was fixed after a 10 minute phone call to their office.

Honestly, they’re REALLY slow in receiving documents. It took them 2 weeks to even acknowledge that they got my transcripts. Was your FAFSA changed? They kept redoing my packet because of some errors in my original FAFSA and it was cleared up when I fixed that. Also, they’re doing it in cycles…so if it doesn’t change (even when they say it will on the phone) don’t stress because it may not be their 3rd cycle of Financial Aid Corrections yet.

I got back pretty much everything I was promised with. I think the UCSD grant was a little bit less but I assume it’s because of the Cal Grant stipend?

Also, for work study, was the max for everyone 2800?
