Okay, so, I have an odd question - I just signed into my Smith banner web account and, just for kicks (I've heard nothing from Smith and I'm definitely not a STRIDE girl), I checked my 2009-2010 financial aid awards. It says that I've been awarded a Pell Grant and that my status is "estimated", followed by the total I'm awarded.

So, my question is, does this have anything to do with my admission status, or do they just list your award regardless of whether you're accepted or not?

Well, I've been admitted with a STRIDE, and my award hasn't been posted yet...So maybe it's a good sign?

Did you check the Award Overview tab? It shows "expected enrollment status," don't know whether or not it's significant... But honestly, why would they even estimate your financial aid award if they're planning to reject you?

Well, my status says Full Time, also. Regardless, I guess you'll find out for sure tomorrow at 6 pm Eastern. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, squaregirl!

In Colombo, Sri Lanka :S But I'll feel better to sleep the anxiety off and wake up and check first thing in the morning. Although I think my chances of getting in pretty much lean towards a No. Still, fingers crossed! Where are you from?

Jerusalem, Israel. I always sleep late on Friday so I don't mind. Otherwise I would have waited like you. Although, I have to say from bitter experience, an "unlikely" letter from Wellsley is not the very best morning greeting I've ever received.

I think I'm stirring towards a No as well. Let me know how it goes for you...

Did you apply to the Hebrew University in your country? I've heard it's really good, and would love to be able to apply, if I had studied Hebrew. Hehe. I didn't receive any unlikely letters, but I did get rejected by Oberlin. Which was a tad disappointing, and now I don't know what to expect from the rest.

WindSongLibra - I actually work at the Hebrew U. It is an excellent school but I would say no to a refreshing change. I'm waiting a bit to see what happens with the colleges in the US and if I see it seems hopeless, I'll probably take the Israeli SATs and try here. But yeah, it's a bit difficult to study there without knowing hebrew - though I think you can attend summer school or even a year as an exchange student thing. I know in the summer, the Hebrew U is flooded with Americans, LOL.

squaregirl - Aren't those letter just a b****? I was so depressed, I was sure I wouldn't be accepted anywhere else... I didn't care starting out, but the idea of a woman's college is really appealing to me more and more. I'm hoping for either Smith or Barnard. I was already accepted to Agnes Scott College. I wish schools would just post the FA with the decision... What's your dream school?

I'm hoping for Wells and Barnard too! I did apply to Harvard, which would be my dream school, but I'm 100% realistic about my chances. =P For now, I'm planning on Smith, if I get in!

I turned pretty quickly from crushing on Wells to swearing revenge. First rejection and all, you know... =) Won't be long now but I think I'm gonna pass out from the suspense! Better sleep on it...

By the way - Harvard, really? I didn't even glance at it - bad enough I applied to Cornell and Dartmouth. Like, what was I thinking???

I just got my aid package today. It didn't look all that wonderful at first, but then I realized that with the STRIDE it's all grants... :) The world is looking bright tonight.

I haven't received my package yet. Unfortunately, I will be away on a school trip the next few days. Got to have patience.

Congrats all. Cygne, does your STRIDE mean all grants for full need. Another way of asking this -- since FA is important to me, what should I xpect. I too have STRIDE but much larger need than the scholarship amount. Thanks for sharing.
