Financial Aid Crisis

So myfao told me to update my fafsa with the information that I previously estimated. Well, I found out my parents adjusted gross income is 30,000 more than what I put on my fafsa, even though I used the estimator truthfully. This increase is because of a one time thing that's never going to happen again, but I'm worried I'm going to lose a good deal of my aid. My parents salary is still the same, which is very near to what the adjusted grsos income prediction was. So, how much do you think my aid offer is going to change when I update the information?

Maybe decrease by ~9k. You should talk to the FAO to see if they can do something about it.

It will probably decrease, but let them know your situation.

Will I lose my calgrant? Does UCLA have any say in what I get from calgrant? Will calgrant even know that I changed the FAFSA, do they even use gross adjusted income?

Blergh

Maybe. But they may make it up with University Grants.

But it’s not a big deal anyways. You’ll just lose the aid for one year since you’ll have to refile a FAFSA every year and get a different offer for your remaining years.

So pretty much my adjusted gross income and everything like that stayed the same, but my EFC went up by 6000. I sure hope I don’t lose calgrant/academic scholarship award/pell grant. :</p>

You have to disclose. If selected for verification, the university will ask for the signed tax returns and other documentation. Financial Aid each year is reviewed based on the renewal FAFSA you file in winter.

lol I disclosed everything, that’s the reason why I’m in this problem. But after contacting the financial aid office they seem very understanding about everything and I think this will end well :D

congratualation
