Financial Aid deadlines

many of my schools financial aid deadlines are approaching... 2/1,2/7,2/15

many require the CSS profile and FAFSA, but my dad nor myself have received our W-2 forms yet. i know that both require w-2 forms to complete. my previous employer does not send out w-2 forms until the last day of the month and my dad is receiving his this upcoming week.

questions...

1) do i need to fill out a tax return if i only made under 2k over less than a year?
2) what happens if i don't meet these deadlines?

You don't need to file a return if you made less than $2k in earned income (unearned income has a whole other set of rules). However, if you had any federal taxes deducted then you will be due a refund. it is definitely worth filing if you are due a refund. You can file for free

Do not miss the deadlines. You can meet them by estimating income information. Most people do as very few can actually file their tax returns this early. Estimate as closely as possible. Submit your FAFSA and CSS. When you have actual taxes, go back and make corrections. Your asset information, though, should be accurate as of the day you file as it is not supposed to be changed.
