Financial Aid & Early App

I heard that if you early app, you might not get fin. aid... is that true? Also, if your family makes less than 40k each year, stanford/ivys/etc would pay for everything... does that still apply for early apping? and would it impact their decision in anyway? they say "need-blind"...

I'm considering early apping Stanford since i really want to go there but if i don't get any fin. aid, i really can't... I know most people from my school and a top high school in my county rarely has any people get in during regular decision but always a few during early.

At least officially, there is no difference in fin aid (EA or RD).

does their " need-blind" policy apply to international students as well?

It used to be for US citizens only. I think it still is.

what?
then it means for internations students, they have to pay the full tuition?

No, there is fin aid for international students, but their admission is not need-blind (so needing fin aid reduces chances to be accepted for internationals).

o.....i see thanks! nngmm

I think its tougher to get financial aid if you apply early..... I applied eary and got in but was very dissapointed with the aid i got.... o well i guess ill have to take massive loans

Who knows? I applied SCEA last year and got a very generous package (it was the best finaid package out of all the other colleges that accepted me). Honestly, I don't think there's a difference.

yea my friend got in this year and he got 95% in financial aid from stanford...and he applied early...so if u are good enough then the aid is available...and well specially for US people there is no discrimination at all on the basis of aid....They generally dont give that much aid EA to internationals because they want to see the whole pool before they exhaust their money

I don't see why appling EA would affect your financial aid package. For ED, schools can give you weaker packages because they KNOW you have to come, but since EA is open, they can't do that, can they?

^ Stanford SCEA does not do that, to my knowledge. It's just as you say- it's not ED.
