Hello,

I recently applied for Early Action for Binghamton but I'm unsure when to file FAFSA. Do I file it the same time as regular (after Jan 1) or am I supposed to file it earlier?

Also if it's after Jan 1, then does that mean I'll receive my financial aid package (if I get in) much later than my acceptance decision?

Thanks!

Early action is non-binding so you have until may 1 to decide whether or not you will attend. However, bing may ask you for a room deposit to hold your space for on campus housing. This money is usually refundable. If you plan on living on campus, make the deposit.

Regarding the Fafsa; if you are attending school in 2013-2014 you must wait until January 1, 2013 to file the Fafsa

Thanks for the reply, so would that mean I don’t have to worry about financial aid for now?

Alright thanks. Bing’s website about financial aid didn’t differ between regular decision and early action/decision so I was a little confused. Your reply helped though. :)

Though Sybbie is “on” with NY schools and I agree with what she wrote, I also suggest you go on the web site and find out exactly what is requested of you for financial aid opportunities. Things change very quickly from year to year, and YOU are responsible for keeping up with what the current requirements are. For some schools and awards, getting whatever apps in early is important. Last I looked, SUNYs are FAFSA only and and Binghamton doesn’t have any separate applications for scholarships with earlier deadlines, but still you should look and know for sure.
