Financial Aid for Fall?

I was wondering if anyone else had gotten their financial aid awards for fall quarter yet. The FA page still shows the 2012-13 tuition prices and on MyUW it still says the following:

Financial aid awards for students attending Autumn-Spring 2013-14 will not be prepared until after the tuition levels and state grant amounts are determined.

It is anticipated that we will know this information and can make an Autumn-Spring award by mid July. Students who are attending summer quarter will receive an award in June, with subsequent revisions to their Autumn-Spring portion in mid July.

As we're coming up on mid-July, I've been hoping to see something. Thoughts?

I’ve received my award already. Maybe yours is still in process.

Seatac you aren’t a new transfer for this fall though right? returning students likely find out sooner I would suspect.

Essited mine still says the same as yours.

I’m returning, but I got my award last year when I was new around June 30th.

I’m a new transfer student for the autumn quarter, and I also haven’t received anything further yet. Hopefully soon!

The budget was signed on the 30th, so now that it’s the 10th hopefully we will all hear soon!!

After emailing the financial aid office I received this reply, “We are currently predicting financial aid packages will go out in late July or early August.”

just a heads up for everyone! Apparently their original prediction of mid July was wrong :/

Ugh. Thanks for letting us know what they said, even if it’s not what we wanted to hear. I just don’t want to have to spend the beginning of school scrambling around dealing with financial aid.

I think that the first thing they’re doing right now is probably switching everyone’s loans (specifically for summer quarter students). I’m currently attending summer quarter, and I had a very small amount in un-subsidized loans that were just switched over to subsidized loans yesterday! Grants and financial awards for students starting again in autumn should be here in ~2 weeks.

The message on my financial aid page changed as of this morning to:

Your application for financial aid is being reviewed.

If we had previously offered you aid we may need to revise it. You will be able to review your award here in one week.

My message has changed as well.

Did anyone had a message to do stafford loan counseling online? It was on MyUW Financial Aid message page…

My financial aid award status haven’t change yet

No, I haven’t gotten anything about Stafford Loan counseling. Have you gone through that process before? I’ve done it before at a previous school and I can’t remember if I’ve ever had to do it more than once.

I received a preliminary award today.

PrincipessaAnna, can you tell me how you know it is a preliminary award? I also received an award notice, but do not see the words “preliminary” or “final” anywhere. Thank you.

In MyUW, when I go to Financial Aid Status, the message highlighted in blue notifying me of my award says that it is preliminary and subject to change upon further review.

It thought I would share with you guys if it can help.I got my award last night. I got three messages from the financial aid. One asked me to set up my direct deposit, the second one asked me to complete my Stafford Loan training and the last one asked me to accept or decline my award.

PrincipessaAnna, thanks for the info. That is helpful. I’m curious now what decides whether further review is needed.

RoseVanessa, I also got those messages, except the one about the Stafford Loan training (I assume because I have had loans in the past).

Got my award the night of the 24th as well! Also had to set up direct deposit and complete entrance loan counseling since I’ve neve had a loan before. So glad to finally know what I’m getting! Does anyone know how to tell if we were given the husky promise deal? It looks like all my tuition is being paid for but nothing mentions the husky promise program.

Husky Promise goes under “University Undergrad Grant” and “Tuition exception”.
