A quick question to any finalists who were not accepted to their colleges during College Match but were accepted into one of the QB schools later on.

What proportion of your college expenses were covered by QB? (The website doesn't specify any further than "significant amount")

One of the things most of these top schools guarantee is a phrase similar to this

“Any family making less than 60,000 will have 100% of financial need met”. Financial Need is COA(Cost of Attendance) - EFC(Expected Family Contribution). So most of these colleges expect you to only pay your EFC per year. While I can’t speak to exact numbers right now, it looks like I’ll only have to pay $2000 a year at the schools who have sent me likelies and around the same at any other schools I may get into. I’m borderline 60,000, around 53k to be exact, and I expect this will be the same for most QB finalist, paying your EFC that is.

There are a lot of schools who “meet need”… you pay EFC… regardless of income level. From what I’ve read is that there is no out of pocket (at some schools) for incomes below 60,000.

What about QB finalists whose incomes are over 60,000 ? How are they affected in regards to financial aid / match scholarships?

I don’t think Questbridge candidates get extra financial aid. The payoff for them is being admitted to schools that cover full need (and presumably their chances are better if they are a QB finalist). Since Questbridge = low-income, that means significant financial aid. Like every other student, you will still have to pay the family contribution determined by the school, which may or may not be the same as the FAFSA EFC. At least that is my take.
