Financial Aid for incomes below 25K

Is NYU financial aid still bad for incomes below 25K with 4 family members?

Apply and find out. Each case is different.

There are many variables that play into how a financial aid offer could be made. For instance, a family of four living on $25,000 a year but which has real estate holdings, a lot of investments, and so on would likely be treated differently than would a family of four where the family is renting their home or apartment and don't have any assets that could go toward the cost of education.

This past spring, President Sexton, stated in an email address to the student body that they were changing their financial aid policy to lower the merit aid and increase their need based aid. You can search the forum I read here somewhere. So you may have a very good shot and getting some decent aid if they do indeed live up to what they say.

I'll search for that, thanks.

NYU is my dream school but I really do not want to get into debt because I want to go to law school later. I'm applying this fall but just don't want to get my hopes up too high.

We live check-to-check, no assets, just rent and no debt and I'm a minority.

you have an even better shot, NYU has an Opportunities program for historically disadvantaged minority students. you do not apply directly. automatically considered if you meet the requirements. Opportunity Program Home
