Financial aid for international students

I’m an international student applying to college this fall and I hope to get in one of the good liberal arts colleges, such as Amherst, Davidson, Carleton, Skidmore etc. I’ve been researching for half a year now but I’m struggling to find much useful information about financial aid. Could anyone tell me how applying for financial aid would affect my chances of getting in those colleges? Thank you so much:)

Amherst is both need blind and meets need for international students.

I can tell that you need to look for blind-admission colleges in order to avoid any risks concerning your college admission. Good Luck

Amherst, Harvard, Yale, Princeton and MIT are the only American colleges that are need blind for international applicants and guarantee that full financial need will be met for international students who are accepted.

For all other schools, it will have an impact. At some schools, applying for financial aid will not affect your chance of admission, but you are unlikely to get the financial aid you need unless you are a superstar that they really, really want. For other schools, a financial aid application will make it less likely that you will be admitted at all. You will need to check each college’s own policies.

Thanks everyone for the help
