Financial aid for ucb-how much?

hey guys I got admitted to UCB and I was looking at my financial aid status and it says:

Budget Amount: $23,690.00
Student Contribution: $0.00
Parent Contribution: $0.00
Need-Based Amount: $23,690.00

Official Letter Status/Date:

what does that mean?

You recieved the most amount of financial aid possible because your contributions or EFC’s are Zero. Good for you!

but i don’t get it, the tuition’s only $4,465.75 per semester which is about 9000 per year. Why are they giving me 23,000? I don’t think thats right…

Living expenses and book supplies.

They should be sending you a financial aid package. There will be forms that you have to fill out and send back before you get your award amount. Like the person said before, you could be getting a large amount of financial aid, but they want to confirm your info. and make sure that you didn’t lie on any forms.

I want to go to Berkeley and I got the same message on the bearfacts’ website. I also got in to UCLA and their financial aid package was really good, so I’m hoping that Berkeley will have the same, or at least close to that of UCLA. You should be happy because if it is anything like the UCLA aid (I recieved above) then they will be helping you out with probably 50%+ of your financial need (Tuition, books, housing, etc.)

so basically they have to confirm if I am lying or not , then decide how much to give me? usually it’s less right? for ucla how much did you get?

They want to make sure that what you put on your FAFSA was correct and that you didn’t just make it up to get more financial aid. If everything is correct then they will disclose your award amount. For UCLA I got almost $16k. If I want to do work study at UCLA then it would be around $19k. You also have to remember that there are a lot of other scholarships out there, so it’s possible to get more. However, I’m not a traditional student. I didn’t go straight in to CC after I graduated High School. I worked, so my situation is different because I’m over 25.
