Financial Aid for Wait List?

My son was admitted from the wait list last week, and we are still waiting on his award package. He got a great award from the school he was planning to attend, but he really wants to go to Tulane. He has been getting all excited about it all week, and I hate that because the truth is if he doesn't get very good financial aid, in the ballpark of what he got from the other school, he won't be able to go. Does anyone have any information or experience as to how Tulane's financial aid might stack up for someone admitted so late? He had applied for a community service scholarship but obviously since he wasn't accepted with the RD pack he won't get that.

Some of his friends have gotten great FA offers from other schools that took them from the wait list, and others got absolutely zero.

And the next question would be, is there a chance to appeal the award if you are coming in off the waitlist?

They had to extend his response date because he hasn't gotten his award package yet, and they pretty much said he can have until he gets his package to decide, so it's not like there's a lot of time to deal with it.

Ponyboat, congrats to your son on his acceptance!! I’m not sure about the waiting list and FA packages but I can tell you, at the suggestion of our ad com we appealed both our merit and financial aid and never received a response to either request.

The FA offer won’t really be affected by his coming in off the wait list, but it is impossible to predict as to how generous it will be. However, appeals are almost always useless unless you can point to some factual error that was made in the calculation or something similar.
