Just what has been posted on here. No one has reported getting an FA package yet, and see post #53. nj_mom had the inside info.

Thank you!

Ahhhh. I see.
You have she scoop on everything-- I figured this was yet another!

hey ya’ll, can one of you explain to me exactly where to navigate on gibson to see the award information? my scholarship isn’t posted anywhere i can see. am i the only one? i probably need to shot my counselor an email but i thought i’d check to make sure i was looking in the right place first. thanks!

I see that my award information (Dean’s Honor Scholarship) has been posted in that tab in the Gibson account. Check yours.

Allan - Was the amount posted on Gibson for the DHS correct?

It should be correct. It says for aid year 2010 - 2011, the amount of award is 18,600 + 18,600 = 37,200 USD. However, I don’t know where this number comes from. The other day, in another thread, Fallenchemist told me to check up this file:
http://pandora.tcs.tulane.edu/acctrec/pdfs/UGBudget_10-11.pdf
It says “tuition” is 38,300, and Fallenchemist told me this scholarship does not cover “mandatory fees” and other expenses (room and board, transportation, etc.). But I’m quite confident this number is accountable because this the DHS will be adjusted each year to fluctuating tuition. You got it too Gabby?

Yes, I got it too. The amount posted was the same as yours, $37,200. I was told by a very reliable source (fallenchemist, of course) that it will be corrected to reflect this years tuition, $38,300.

O Fallenchemist we worship you.

Yes, your DHS will post as “anticipated scholarship” (or something like that, I forget exactly) on your tuition bill, and will adjust up each year with tuition. The fixed awards (eg the 15K, 21K, 25K merit awards) do NOT go up with tuition increases- only the scholarships that are “full tuition scholarships”. If you have a NM scholarship-- it is always late, so dont be surprised. Its $1000 per semester, but you wont see it until usually sometime during the first month of the semester, after tution bills are due. My s goes to the FA office and hand carries the check to the Accs Reeceivable office, but we’ve had a credit for the last few semesters b/c we paid the bill to avoid late fees.

The Accts rec. office was supposed to mail us the refund for the credit on our account, but they sent it to my s at school!!! Well, he used it to pay housing deposits for off campus housing next year. But still… it was supposed to be sent to the address where the send the bills-- our home address! Other alternative was to link their account to our checking account. I am not comfortable with that, so… um… no.

My d’s FA posted on Gibson this afternoon and they were very generous. Check - yours may be up too…

Mine’s not up yet but I’m glad to hear your daughter’s was generous, it gives me more hope, because I’m about 90% sure I’ll be at Tulane in fall assuming everything comes through money-wise.

Did you receive an email when they posted it up? I’m on my way to check now!..

EDIT: Nothing there. Sigh.

No I was just a neurotic mom checking. No email that I’m aware of.

Damn now I wish I didn’t ask. I’ll be checking every other minute now.

Congrats NJmom…My sons didn’t post today but I am so glad that someone finally received something. Was beginning to wonder if they were really going to post this week. Hope they are very generous with us too.

the financial aid office is only open until 5pm (which is 6pm ny time), so dont bother checking after that

ok this might sound dumb but what will it look like when they post it?

is there another link?

If you log in via Gibson (like you did when you found out you got in) there are now 3 tabs - Home, My Application, and Financial Aid - for us all 3 of these tabs showed up last week. Click on the FA tab and then click on any of the links in the FA box - Award Info or Award History, etc. The FA tab “showed up” on my D’s Gibson last week with nothing in it. Then earlier this week, her merit scholarship was listed, and then yesterday the whole kit and kaboodle, including work study, various loans, her original scholarship and additional Tulane Scholarship Assistance she was awarded. A note on that last part, from the TSA award page: “Need determines whether Tulane Scholarship assistance can be given. Merit determines the proportion of scholarship in our offer of aid.” For my D, she originally received $15,000/yr merit and then received another $14,200 TSA in addition to work study and loans. Sure hope she likes the school!

Well, it’s 9:00 a.m. in New Orleans. Time to start checking Gibson, then refresh page, refresh page again.
