Same! I’m just gonna go to Bing; It’s my number one and I don’t need financial aid with the instate tuition! (Semi-joke. I wish the decision was this easy.)

I am also frustrated to not have the financial aide for my daughter. I do believe they are trying their best to be equitable with all the available funds. I would not give up on Tulane and I urge you to book your tickets for Honors weekend. My older son graduated from Tulane last year and we couldn’t have been happier with his experience. Honors weekend sold us on the school and I know it would do the same for you.

Binghamton instead of NOLA? :eek:

will there just be a link on the financial aid status when they post it?

dreamer - yea, it’s probably going to come down to Newhouse/Whitman at Syracuse, hopefully one of my reaches (BC, Emory, Georgetown), Bing, and Fordham.

i got in, in october. this wait is horrible.

I really don’t think people should be upset with Tulane’s deliverance of FA info. Especially with the unprecedented amount of applications received, Tulane is much more prompt than all the schools I applied to. Of these 8 schools, I’ve only been accepted to Cornell UNH, and Providence. None of these schools have given me financial information and each said my information will come in April. I did apply to these school back in November, the same time I passed in my application to Tulane, where I received the fastest acceptance notification. Duke, UVA, BC, and Penn still haven’t sent me notification of my acceptances or any financial information and I applied to all of these schools at the same time as Tulane. BC even said that my admissions decision may come as late as April 15. Tulane said they would notify students by April 1. I think they should be cut some slack! They are being much more efficient than every school I applied to and have received about twice the number of applications! I wish everyone good luck with their financial aid notifications. I know the process of waiting sucks but Tulane is really doing a great job!

I am really not trying to bash Tulane about the way they are handling the financial aid situation and I didn’t mean to sound like I was. For those of us that have children wanting to attend Tulane but the final decision will be based on the financial aid package it is making us very anxious to say the least. Most of the other schools that my son was accepted to have said that it will be April 1st before they send out their financial aid and that is ok, we know when to expect it. I guess it is just the disappointment of being told they would start to post on the 15th, then the 19th and now sometimes during the next 2 weeks. Just nerves getting to us. It is hard for those of us that want to send our kids to Honors Weekend in April but may not know if we can afford to send them to Tulane. Hope I didn’t offend anyone with any of my previous post.

Heltonmom - no problem, we all understand the nerves for sure.

Here is my suggestion, although I know this becomes a pain in the tush if the aid doesn’t work out. Go ahead and make your hotel and airline reservations, and tell Tulane you are coming. If the FA package turns out to be insufficient, then you just tell Tulane you aren’t coming. Hotels can be cancelled no problem. The airline with a cheap ticket is another matter. But even if the airline won’t refund the ticket and issues you a voucher instead, surely some time over the next year you could use it? Most airlines that’s how long the credit lasts. And then if Tulane does give you the aid that makes it affordable, you are already set.

You are exactly right and that is what I am thinking about doing. He is already registered to go in April and the ticket is actually a lot cheaper than I thought. Before I do that I have to decide if I want to fly him down or just make a mini vacation out of it and drive down with him. We were there for the first time in October and we loved Tulane and New Orleans. I think the moms stress over this stuff just a little too much. : )

Not just the moms, lol. Take a vacation, you deserve it. Mid April, good chance it will still not be too hot.

@skier2010

granted, i’m being a bit impatient-- but i wouldn’t go as far to say that Tulane is doing a “great” job.

I applied and was accepted at four schools early action (Northeastern, Fordham, UMiami). Tulane is the only school that hasn’t given me even an estimated financial aid package. This is especially strange when you consider that of those four schools, Tulane was the FIRST to notify me of my acceptance.

@heltonmom/fallenchemist

that really is a great idea, but i’m not sure if I want to put that sort of pressure on my parents…my mom’s already doing me a solid by taking me from NY to UMiami next week and then up to Geneseo the week after.

My understanding from the FA office today is that they intended to have the info out mid-March online but Gibson is a new system, which they are having some trouble with. Apparently the staff is going to be working overtime, entering all the info by hand instead of electronically, which came as a surprise to their office as well. So - as much as we are all annoyed and tired of waiting, they had a good plan. It’s not that they don’t want to tell us, there just happened to be a really big snag that they weren’t anticipating. I would not want to be them!

I signed onto Gibson today and on the FA section I had to accept the terms and conditions of my scholarship which was new, but nothing else was up. Did anyone else have to do that?

hi oxymoronical - yes, a couple others said they had to do that as well, even though nothing else had changed.

bird rock - LOL I know that sounds sad, but being a New Yorker, Binghamton is just much more realistic. Although, I would probably feel more comfortable in a city (like NOLA) since I’m coming from NYC, but that’s something completely different…

VF - Best of luck with those reaches! They are all great schools, as are Fordham and Syracuse. I am mad at Syracuse since they placed me into my 2nd choice program, so I crossed them off my list.

I also want to clarify that I’m kind of just venting, as we all need to do with all this college stress. Yes, I am a little annoyed at Tulane for taking so long with their financial aid stuff, but I understand it’s a difficult process for them. I’m just anxious and want to get my butt to college already! :)

Thanks dreamerr! Yea, Syracuse didn’t offer me the best financial aid. Not terrible, but definitely not great. So I’m going to try and lobby for more since it really is one of my top choices.

For all who are interested, my scholarship also comes up under FA in Gibson.

I can see my daughter’s scholarship information as financial aid on Gibson. Does that mean she didn’t qualify for any other aid or is there still a possibility that something else will post later?

mamaxyzbear - no one else’s aid has posted yet except scholarships. They are running behind, apparently because of a systems problem.

Do you have inside info, fc???
