Hi everyone! I realize that this is not maybe the correct thread for my question, but I need some help regarding a fin aid question. So, I am a freshman at UCI this year. I just accepted my financial aid grant (I did not accept loans because they scare me). My financial aid only covered part of my fall quarter tuition which left the rest of it for me to pay. So I made the financial aid payment and have yet to pay the rest of the balance from my own money. The problem is I am thinking of withdrawing from UCI to attend someplace else.If I withdraw from school before the quarter begins, is that money refunded back to the school (Its a UCI grant) or do I have to repay it? I technically haven't completed my payment for fall quarter so does that play a role in any way? Does anyone have any idea regarding this? Thanks for the help!

If you withdraw formally before the term begins, the whole financial aid thing will be cancelled. But you need to be very, very, very certain that your withdrawal is absolutely complete and that the aid has been returned to the federal or state government. You do not want to find yourself on the hook for the remaining tuition for a bunch of classes that you have failed because you thought you had withdrawn from, but hadn’t.

Thanks so much happymomof1!
