Financial aid issue...

Hi guys, I'm just really worried about something, not even sure if this is the right place, but--

First of all, I have to wait for Wednesday to see whether any of my regular decision Questbridge places have accepted me.

But for now, I've gotten accepted into my safety schools--Stony brook, Binghamton, Boston University.

For some reason though, even though I'm a questbridge applicant (meaning my family is not "financially secure"), and my family makes under that magic number 40k a year, these schools have NOT given me the financial aid I need. For instance, BU only gave me 26k when I'll need about 54k. But my friends have gotten 50k for BU...I do not understand, why did I get so little? Did I fill out my forms wrong or something? (And it can't be my academic record :/ I have a 4.0 GPA and a 2300 SAT)

I'm still hoping for the Wednesday decisions, but in case I don't get in, I'm worried about my financial aid status. Any recommendations about what to do? People told me to simply call the financial aid office, but is that enough? :/ Help...

You might want to take this question to the Financial Aid Forum. Someone there will have ideas for ways you can approach the financial aid offices at the different universities.

Many colleges and universities do not promise to meet a student’s full need. Is that the case with the places that you have heard from so far? If they don’t promise to meet your full need, they can accept you but not offer any financial aid at all.
