Financial aid issues

Repost...

Hi guys, I'm just really worried about something, not even sure if this is the right place, but--

First of all, I have to wait for Wednesday to see whether any of my regular decision Questbridge places have accepted me.

But for now, I've gotten accepted into my safety schools--Stony brook, Binghamton, Boston University.

For some reason though, even though I'm a questbridge applicant (meaning my family is not "financially secure"), and my family makes under that magic number 40k a year, these schools have NOT given me the financial aid I need. For instance, BU only gave me 26k when I'll need about 54k. But my friends have gotten 50k for BU...I do not understand, why did I get so little? Did I fill out my forms wrong or something? (And it can't be my academic record :/ I have a 4.0 GPA and a 2300 SAT)

I'm still hoping for the Wednesday decisions, but in case I don't get in, I'm worried about my financial aid status. Any recommendations about what to do? People told me to simply call the financial aid office, but is that enough? :/ Help...

I can only comment on Boston University. They do NOT guarantee to meet the full need of all accepted students.

^ I see. But why did my friend get so much more? … (oh I’m a fast responder)

Did you receive any merit money? What exactly was in your FA package?

Boston U is a CSS school that requires info from a non-custodial parent. Did you fill out CSS Profile? Do you have an NCP?

I’m just panicking at the moment, but I’ll have to wait until Wednesday to know for sure…I just felt really scared, because everyone else on my facebook is talking about ~50k aid

Is it possible that those other people got “dept scholarships” based on their majors? Some majors might have money to give away for scholarships.

What major did you put? What majors are those other people?

Are you a NMF? Are those people NMFs?
