Financial Aid Issue

Hello. I’m a little confused about something. So I filled out the FAFSA and sent it to USF. When I logged into my OASIS to see my financial aid, it only incorporated my bright futures and their scholarship; nothing regarding my financial aid. After a bit more digging, I found that I had to fill out 3 more applications to be considered for financial aid. Is this true and normal? Do I only have to do this for other schools too or just USF? I have received financial aid from another school without having to fill out anything additional. If anyone can provide a bit more insight I would appreciate it as I’m a bit lost and confused.

FAFSA is submitted online via fafsa.gov. USF pulls the information from FAFSA database. I submitted my two financial aid apps (2018-19, 2019-2020) online. My financial aid funds and bright future amounts were posted last month after receiving an award email from USF. I submitted my fafsa apps during the 1st week financial aid apps opened. When did you submit your financial aid?

The only additional forms me & my mom filled out was pertaining to financial verification (required).

@HHMA2019 I filled out and submitted my fafsa October 1st (the day it opened). I guess the additional forms are pertaining to financial verification??? Except I don’t have any financial aid funds showing. Only bright futures and their scholarship

@PhilM1 Yes, those verification forms are needed to complete usf financial aid process. When you & your parents have submitted the forms, it take 3-5 business days for usf to review them (date will show when reviewed). Afterwards, it could take a weeks to month for the funds to appear “if” you qualify for grant funds. Your financial aid report from fafsa, will show the estimated amount for pell grant.

@HHMA2019 Wow that’s a long time but thanks for the clarification. Wish I knew about this earlier because they never emailed me or sent me a letter about it. Do I need to do this for any other schools or is it just a USF thing?

@PhilM1 You have to make it your responsibility to check your Oasis feverishly because they may not send correspondence on certain things (unless you owe money). Also, check your usf email as they will use it to send you emails about important things. I cannot speak on other colleges, every college is different.

@HHMA2019 Where can I find my usf email? I never made one

You can access your email in oasis. When you login to myusf portal, click on the email tab. The email was automatically created by usf.
