Financial aid letter a good sign?

Hey, everyone, I think this question got asked before, but I'll ask anyway.

I just got a letter today saying that Dartmouth lost a part of my financial aid forms. Now, I may be reading too much into this, but wouldn't that be a good sign? With so many applications, I doubt that they look through everyone's financial aid. I don't think it means that I'm in, but I think I made it to the finalist round.

So, what do you think? Do they go through everyone's financial aid forms? Do I stand a good chance of getting in? Which goes better with grilled cheese: vegetable beef or tomato soup?

Feel free to comment.

It doesn't matter. They just lost your forms and need them. If it were an actual financial aid package, then I would say yes.

I would say definitely.

Lemmethink just asked this same question last week. I told him the same thing I am telling you and he and got a likely letter the next day.

At this late stage of the game the school is in the process of finalizing packages (as the last set of liley letters were probably mailed out this past friday). SInce Dartmouth is need blind in admissions, the office would have no need to see your financial aid forms. ONe of my friends (ad Adcom at Columbia) told me that the admission usually sends a list to the financial aid office of prospective applicants then they start putting the packages together. It takes time to get verification and stuff for 2000 packages for admitted students (including ED) so it would just not be a good utiliziation of resources to ask for information of someone they are not accepting

I will tell you what I told lemmethink. Last year I forgot something in the package. Every school wrote requesting additional information. In the end she got an admission letter from every school (so from my own experience I am taking it as a good sign). Keeping fingers crossed for your. Get that info back ASAP because the admission and the financial aid letter come in the same package on April 1 and you do not want to hold up the process.

All the best.

P.S. aboaut the soup, tomato :)

hmm...did Dartmouth have any fin aid forms that were part of its app? I know Penn, Cornell and Columbia did - of those, I forgot to turn some into Cornell and Columbia and received a request to get them in ASAP...Yale also asked for my tax returns.

taking that as Premise 1, and the fact that there is NO WAY IN HELL i'm getting into any of those schools as Premise 2, I'd wager that they want everything in place so that they can make packages. because seriously. i DON'T have the qualifications for Yale or Columbia. lol.

lol kidding, i really have no idea what i'm talking about

Blu,

keep your head up girl. Remember admissions can be very fickle. There are always students who get accepted to HYP and get rejected from Dartmouth,Brown, Penn Columbia and Cornell. Remember the goal of each school is to build a class just as each school's mission is different they are looking for different things to build their classes.

Be optimistic. With almost 20,000 applications that Yale recieves with approximately 2 weeks before decisions go out, why would they want your financial information when they have other things to do (remember they must also get ready to do packages for the upperclassmen and grad students). As I previously said, I woudl take it as a good sign. I am not saying that you should walk around all goosed up because of the request but you shouldn't block the potential blessing either because we do sometimes language things into being.

I believe that something good is going to come of it, now you have to beleive for yourself.(Cybermom's lecture of the day, boy did that wear me out)

hahaha awww sybbie, i love you! thanks so much for the power talk lol

i got the notice for Yale a few weeks ago though. but don't worry, I know wherever I end up I'll have a blast!

Thanks for the opinions, everyone. I appreciate it.

"P.S. aboaut the soup, tomato"

rubs stomach And how!

blu, its ok...chill, we're all in this together lol..... and what would we do if sybbie wasn't there to support us through it all?
