I know it's need-blind and the financial aid office has nothing to do with admissions, but do you guys think it means anything that they sent me this letter so late in the game?

It says:

"Although the Admissions Committee is still deliberating, the Financial Aid Office is currently reviewing Class of 2011 documents. We want to ensure that when candidates are selected for admission, we will have sufficient information on file to make a financial aid decision."

Yeah, I agree with Very Happy. It seems likely that you'd be admitted if they were concerned with you documentation a week before the decisions are released.

I got the same letter... 2 weeks ago... If I got it yesterday, I'd have been happier... but 2 weeks ago... who knows what has happened to my application after that...

Hate to burst the bubbble but a friend of mine got the same letter from Financial Aid last year and was rejected. I understand they operate totally separately. In the event an admission offer is made, FA needs to be ready quickly to respond.

jgonzo.... I don't think it matters, as others have said, the financial aid office and admissions are separate. I was getting stuff from the MIT financial aid office pretty much up until the time I was REJECTED! :(

that's right jgonzo!!
if it were up to me....
we would all get in and then join hands in one big kumbaya!
we can still do the latter half regardless of decision :D
