Financial Aid Mishap

I was recently admitted to American, but I am having some trouble with my financial options. When I received my package I was shocked by how low the offer was. After doing some research, I realized that my CSS profile was never sent. I called the FA office today and they informed me that I can still send it.
I was wondering if this would make any difference. I was also considering writing an appeal in an attempt to get more aid. Does anybody have experience with this process? How big of an effect does the CSS profile make on the amount of aid offered?

PLEASE HELP

Don’t know if this will be at all helpful, but our need was indeed met at the “average” AU 85 percent. As far as I can tell, in our case, the Profile didn’t make a significant change as I am basing the “need met” percentage on the cost of attendance minus our FAFSA EFC.

That said, if you are given an opportunity to submit now, DO IT! What have you got to lose? American even seems to be saying or implying that it will be considered.

Take it for what you will but my EFC went down by $2k after submitting my CSS
