Financial Aid Notification from Cal: Anyone else?

What's strange is that I have yet to receive any acceptance letter/packets from wither UCLA or Cal, but this afternoon I came across a large white envelope with the Financial Aid Offer from Cal. I thought, "oh neat....let's see what they say". Well, all this time I hadn't been able to creat my CalNetID, so I had no idea what my Financial award would be. At any rate....just a few questions.....

I was a little disappointed by the FSEOG, only 500. That seemed rather low....

Furthermore, the UC grant was only 460 dollars, compared to UCLA's offer of $8695.

Aside from the numbers, I was curious......did everyone else receive a scholarship and did anyone receieve the EOP grant? Also....has anyone received the acceptant letter from either UCLA or Cal?

Anyway, this is all quite a blessing. Did anyone receieve a scholarship from UCLA? Because I think it's strange how Cal gave me a scholarship and UCLA has yet to inform me if I have.......I thought both schools had deep pockets. lol

Hey, no complaining. I got my CalNet ID today and logged on, only to discover that I would be taking out $22,000 worth of loans. I got no grants, scholarships, etc. AND they have me as an off campus student and I cant change my status and increase the loan amounts until late June. Yay.

i recieved acceptence letter from Cal today..
and was really surprised that i had no cal grants whatsoever, even though i qualify for them...***?

and i had some money held for me from community college (cal grants) as well.

could it be because i did not submit my gpa verification form? i thought i didnt have to submit it since i am continuing to update my fafsa, and not starting from new.

anyways...im so screwed on financial aid right now...

and they have me as an off campus student although i wll be dorming the first year...

sigh

They have me as off-campus as well....however, It says in the packet that off-campus does mean apartments, frat/sor and co-op housing....however, I assume that includes off-campus University owned apartments...you know the new ones? hmmm......

UCLA is starting to look pretty good, huh everybody? ;-)

you can change your housing status with a simple form after you sign a contract for a spot in a residence hall...then the student budget increases by 3k

easymack, i'm in the same exact situation as you. that sucks.

now i'm seriously contemplating whether i should dorm or not.
Having already to take out ~$15,000 in loans, i dunno if i could afford to shell out another $2-3000 for the dorms...

this sucks major ass. :(

I assume I can't keep a cat in the dorm. Even in a single bed room? Anyone hear of a person keeping a pet in their room at Berkeley.

Ok, without using handcuffs?

Ok I'm not feeling so bad......I hope it all works out for you all, honestly. You've worked so hard. Anyway.....the only thing I would be worried about the housing situation.....

Like I have said earlier.....rent is 947 a month without meals....That's sounds insane.....

Second, keeping the scholarship might be very difficult in the long run....I don't know.
